A comprehensive eye examination at Dr Abrams and Associates, incorporates the latest advancements in diagnostic equipment. Technology such as Digital Retinal Photography and Optical Coherence Tomography enables our doctors to provide the highest standard of care for their patients.

High Resolution Retinal Camera

Our office offers high resolution retinal photography, which uses a computer-integrated digital imaging system to record a detailed view of the retina. Digital retinal imaging assists in the detection and management of problems such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, cancer of the eye, glaucoma and other diseases.

All patient retinal images are stored and serve as an excellent reference for future evaluations to ensure optimal eye health. Digital retinal imaging is a valuable technology that we recommend for all our patients.

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

Our office provides Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT),the most recent technological advancement in eye care for imaging ocular tissues.

OCT imaging is analogous to ultrasound with the exception that OCT measures the difference in light absorption of retinal tissue, while ultrasound uses the reflection of sound waves. Both are extremely safe tests, presenting no harm or risk to the patient. The notable advantage of OCT imaging is it's ability to provide extremely high resolution scans, 50 times superior to that of ultrasound.

OCT has become an essential tool for non invasive analysis of retinal tissue, aiding in the diagnosis and management of retinal diseases and glaucoma. Even in the absence of clinic signs or patient symptoms, OCT enables our doctors to diagnose retinal pathologies that otherwise may go undetected.

Our doctors will employ the OCT when clinically relevant to explore any presentation in detail and to monitor for subtle changes in the disease process.
